The exhibition addresses the contingent approach which decrees that a certain animal will be an edible object, whereas another becomes a beloved subject. In fact, the acculturation process is what gives certain species the right to exist, while ontologically, there is no difference between pets and animals considered food or lab animals. This conceptual distinction has diverse cultural and historical justifications, which are devoid of logical foundation and lack an internal logic. Through portraits of animal rights activists, I wish to examine the customary distinction under a critical microscope.
