The viewing experience I wish to evoke is one of browsing through the family album. The photograph as part of a sequence attests to the experience of the subject, as well as my work process as a photographer. I operate like a collector of negatives whose main interest is the documenting gaze.
I link my photography with my family history and cultural identity as an immigrant from Eastern Europe. From a very early age, I was exposed to the darkroom and the world of photography through my father, who was a commercial photographer. That is where the love of analogical photography comes from. I photograph in a black and white square format, but in the processing I use digital means, scan and eventually print them as inkjet prints.
